Goldstock
Why should kids have all the fun? That's the philosophy at Camp Weequahic, a premier summer children's camp on 100 acres of beautiful Pennsylvania countryside. This past Labor Day marked the eighth consecutive "Goldstock" at the camp, with Gail Lustig and her family the gracious hosts of 35 Golden Retriever rescue groups. GRRI-NJ was well represented!
Goldstock is an amazing weekend filled with opportunities to learn, play, and raise money for Golden rescue. GRRI-NJ volunteers set up our merchandise table and did brisk business throughout the weekend. There were also raffles and auctions of a variety of Golden goodies; veteran Goldstock attendees know to start saving early for this weekend! Over $100,000 was raised during the weekend to benefit the GR rescue groups in attendance!
We all know that "a tired dog is a good dog," and there are endless opportunities at Goldstock to swim, run, fetch (for those so inclined!), and socialize. In between the impromptu fun, there were also Canine Good Citizen certifications, Therapy Dog International certifications, the canine olympics, a senior parade, and a rescue parade. With so many experienced Golden Guardians in attendance, the weekend is also a terrific opportunity to learn, and several grooming and educational seminars were conducted.
We're already looking forward to next year's Goldstock -- save the weekend!
